Located in downtown Bangor, Maine, The Fiddlehead Restaurant takes a fresh, unique look at the concept of fine dining. Using only high quality ingredients, we bring finesse to comfort-style dishes interpreted from a wide range of culinary and geographical sources. In season, our own Fiddlehead Farm provides our produce, while fantastic neighbors help supply our duck & chicken eggs & local honey (yay, bees!). Out of season, we implement produce from Maine and New England based farmer's markets and storage farms. Many of our cheeses are sourced locally, most especially from Abraham's Creamery in Newport, & Northbranch Farms in Monroe, while Fiore is responsible for our amazing olive oils and balsamics. The seafood is sourced locally, both wild caught and biodynamically raised, or with eco-appropriate fishing standards, and our land animals are raised exclusively free range, nitrate free and grass fed thanks to the incomparable A Wee Bit Farm.
The full bar is geared toward custom, craft cocktails, made with fresh-squeezed juices and natural purees; each made-to-order, with particular requests our specialty. The wine list offers a new concept for both the fledgling wine drinker, as well as the connoisseur, with a concentration on introducing different labels from less well known vintners and regions that specialize in organic, biodynamic & sustainable practices. Priced to intrigue, most of the list—both red and white—is offered by the glass to ensure that customers are comfortable trying wines which may be unfamiliar. We also take great care to provide an ample selection of non-alcoholic beverages, from the cherry lime rickey & seasonal hot buttered cider, to our signature cucumber-mint lemonade.
Our concept on dining is simple: to provide a clean, comfortable atmosphere, with informed, capable, friendly service, and good food. That's it. We are extremely accommodating to those with dietary restrictions, designing our menus and training our staff to make sure that every customer enjoys their experience to the utmost.
